A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
My name is Nicola and I have been working with dogs professionally since 2020. I have always had family dogs, and after being made redundant for the fifth time in 2020 I decided it was time to do something I loved, and Wag This Way was born!
I began my canine career as a dog walker, and the more dogs I met, the more I became fascinated by their behaviour and their individual personalities. This let me to begin studying with Canine Principles to achieve my Canine Behaviour Professional Accredited Diploma. I am also a Certified Dog Trainer with The Dog Training College.
This has allowed me to now offer private coaching sessions, as well as group classes and workshops, with the aim of helping dogs and their guardians live the best life they can together.

Puppy Sessions
Congratulations on your new fluffy bundle of joy!
Adding a puppy to the family is an exciting time, but also a challenging one. No two puppies are the same, so even if you have done it all before, it is important as their guardians we know how to support, understand and communicate with them as best we can.
Our puppy coaching sessions are designed to help your puppy have the best start in their new home, and help you, as their guardian, develop your skills to support them to be the best dog they can be.
These sessions are best suited for puppies aged 8 weeks to 6 months.

Loose Leash
One of the most desirable skills for our dogs to have, yet one of the most common areas we find difficulty with.
Loose leash walking is not something that comes naturally to our dogs, but it is far from an impossible task to teach them!
These sessions are designed to not only help you and your dog enjoy less stressful walks by building leash walking skills, but also to help you understand and communicate with each other better.

Recall
One of the most desirable skills for our dogs to have, yet one of the most common areas we find difficulty with.
Recall is not only essential for ensuring our dogs do not disappear when off lead, but also for their own safety.
These sessions are designed to not only help you and your dog build on your existing bond and create a solid recall which will benefit everyone.

Group Training
In partnership with Big City Life Dog Training & Mantrailing
Group training is a fantastic opportunity to learn with your dog! As well as gaining new skills and knowledge, working alongside other dogs and their owners is excellent for developing socialisation skills and working with distractions.
With the guidance of qualified & experienced trainers, you will learn fun and positive games & techniques to improve you and your dog's skills strengthen your relationship at the same time.

Our dogs live in a human world, and the rules and expectations are often very different from those of the dog world. Your dog doesn’t automatically know why they can’t jump up at people, why they need to walk on a lead, and why they shouldn’t steal food from your kitchen counters. They don’t understand that not everyone likes muddy paw prints on their clothes, that they could be injured or killed if they get hit by a car, and that some human food is poisonous to dogs.
Life skills training teaches your dog everything they need to know to live safely in our confusing human world.
Step into your dog's world of scent.
Scent work is a fascinating and fun activity you and your dog can enjoy together. Use your dog's superpower to search for and detect an individual scent.
Within your taster workshop, we explore the main aspects of training your dog in scent work, how to increase your dog’s desire to seek and locate, how to train your dog to recognize a target scent, and insight into indication behaviors within scent detection, tracking, and mantrailing. You and your dog will have plenty of opportunities for practical exercises and for you to learn new handling skills. It is a fun workshop where you can step into your dog's scent world and see how amazing your dog’s nose is.
Over this 5 week block you will learn the basics of positive reinforcement training to set you on your way to a lifelong happy, healthy relationship with your dog.

All of the lessons will be focused on having fun with your pup, building your relationship, and helping you both to reach your potential to set you up for success as your puppy grows.
Classes are small groups - maximum 8 pups per class - to ensure everyone gets the most out of their time.
Group classes are not only great for learning new skills, but offer a fantastic opportunity to socialise your pup in a calm, controlled environment and help them to work better around distractions.
Please note that group training is not suitable for dogs who are reactive to other dogs or people. All of our workshops are available on a 1-2-1 basis for those unable to participate in the group sessions. Please get in touch to find out more.
Dog Daycare
Small group daycare for friendly dogs based in Newarthill.
We have a large, secure outdoor space for plenty of play with friends. Artificial grass means no mucky paws while your pups enjoy their time with us!
We also have cosy, comfortable indoor rooms for shelter from the Scottish weather, chill out time on our sofas, or just some private nap time for tired pups.
Fully licensed, insured, and I am Canine First Aid certified for your peace of mind.
All new dogs must complete a trial half day session before enrollment to ensure they are happy and comfortable with us.
